Our Story

Founded in 1985 by Margaret and Robert Thompson, Impaspesta began as a small bookshop in downtown Toronto with a passion for promoting Canadian literature. What started as a modest family-owned business has grown into one of Canada's most respected publishers and booksellers.

The name "Impaspesta" combines the Italian words for "commitment" (impegno) and "page" (pagina), reflecting our unwavering dedication to the written word. For over three decades, we've been committed to discovering, nurturing, and celebrating Canadian voices in literature.

Today, Impaspesta is proud to be 100% Canadian-owned and operated, with our headquarters in Toronto and satellite offices in Vancouver and Montreal. We've expanded our reach while staying true to our original mission: to share the rich tapestry of Canadian storytelling with readers across the country and around the world.
